- Ladakh adopted two endangered species, snow leopard and black-necked crane, as State animal and State bird.
- Black-necked cranes are only found in Ladakh’s Changthang region.
- The bird is classified as Near-Threatened, as per the IUCN classification.
- Snow leopard has been classified as ‘vulnerable’.
