- The Assam government has launched a Milk Subsidy Scheme to provide a subsidy of 5 rupees per litre of milk to farmers in a bid to boost the dairy sector in the state.
- Milk production is made available through cooperative societies such as Purabi and Sitajakhala in Assam.
- The Panjabari plant is the largest dairy processing facility in the Northeast.
- It is operated by the West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd (WAMUL) under the Purabi Dairy brand.
