- The announcement for this proposal came as a part of the year-long activities to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak in 2019.
- The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Implementation Committee (NIC) headed by the Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
- The NIC was constituted by the Prime Minister for the purpose of commemorating the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.
