National Milk Day 2024 - November 26

It honours the birth of Dr Verghese Kurien, the visionary behind India's White Revolution.
The day highlights the crucial role of milk in human nutrition and raises the awareness about its health benefits.
Dr Kurien is known as the ‘Father of White Revolution in India’. 
He is famous for his ‘Operation Flood’ (1970), which is known as the world’s largest agricultural program. 
Due to his efforts, India became the largest producer of milk in 1998, surpassing the U.S.
He is Founder Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
He also played a key role in the establishment and success of Amul Brand. 
He was honoured with awards- Padma Shri (1965), Padma Bhushan (1966), Padma Vibhushan (1999) and World Food Prize (1989).
Every year, the first day of June is observed as World Milk Day.
