- The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) India – National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB) released the “Carbon Uptake by Concrete” report during the 63rd Foundation Day of NCB on 26 December 2025.
- The report assesses carbon dioxide (CO₂) absorption by concrete through carbonation under Indian climatic and construction conditions.
- The report states that the cement sector contributes nearly 7% of total anthropogenic CO₂ emissions and is classified as a hard-to-abate industry.
- It recommends improving data quality and refining estimation methods to better account for carbon uptake by concrete.
