New Appointments in NCSK

Bhagwat Prasad Makwana has been appointed Chairperson, and Kaishab Bihari as Vice-Chairperson of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK).
NCSK was constituted on 12 August 1994 under the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis Act, 1993 and became a non-statutory body after the Act lapsed in 2004.
It works under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for the welfare, dignity, rights and rehabilitation of Safai Karamcharis and manual scavengers.
It monitors implementation of the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013.
The present 10th Commission has tenure up to 31 March 2028.
