Six butterfly species were recorded for the first time in India from the Siang Valley of Arunachal Pradesh.
The species are Litin Onyx (Horaga takanamii), Tibetan Junglequeen (Stichophthalma neumogeni renqingduojiei), and Tibetan Duke (Euthaliazhaxidunzhui), along with three others earlier known only from Laos, Vietnam, and southeastern Tibet.
The findings highlight an ecological link between Tibet’s Yarlung Tsangpo River and India’s Brahmaputra basin.
