New Butterfly Species in Siang Valley

- Six butterfly species were recorded for the first time in India from the Siang Valley of Arunachal Pradesh.
- The species are Litin Onyx (Horaga takanamii), Tibetan Junglequeen (Stichophthalma neumogeni renqingduojiei), and Tibetan Duke (Euthalia zhaxidunzhui), along with three others earlier known only from Laos, Vietnam, and southeastern Tibet.
- The findings highlight an ecological link between Tibet’s Yarlung Tsangpo River and India’s Brahmaputra basin.
