The European Council approved the EU-India Strategic Agenda on October 22, 2025.
The agenda identifies five priority pillars: prosperity and sustainability, technology and innovation, security and defence, connectivity and global issues, and enabling measures.
India and the European Union (EU) established diplomatic relations in 1962 and upgraded to a Strategic Partnership in 2004.
Bilateral trade reached €120 billion in 2024, with cumulative EU foreign direct investment in India at USD 107.27 billion from April 2000 to December 2023.
