  • The latest National Family Health Survey-6 (NFHS-6) highlighted improvements in maternal and child health indicators along with a rise in lifestyle-related diseases among adults.
  • Institutional deliveries increased from 88.6% (NFHS-5: 2019–21) to 90.6% (NFHS-6: 2023–24), while antenatal care coverage reached 95.9%.
  • Child health indicators improved, with full immunisation increasing to 87.1% and stunting among children under five years declining from 35.5% to 29.3%.
  • Overweight, obesity, and diabetes cases increased among adults, indicating a rise in lifestyle-related diseases.
  • India’s Total Fertility Rate (TFR) remained stable at 2.0, below the replacement level of 2.1.
