- President Ram Nath Kovind has released the The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2019 for Institutes and Universities.
- NIRF was approved and launched by Minister of Human Resource Development on 29th September 2015.
- The First rank list was released in 2016.
- The parameters of ranking broadly cover Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity and Perception.
- The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, topped the overall national ranking of higher institutes.
