NITI Aayog releases twin reports titled “India’s Services Sector: Insights from GVA Trends and State-Level Dynamics” and “India’s Services Sector: Insights from Employment Trends and State-Level Dynamics”.
The reports examine gross value added (GVA) and employment trends at the national and state levels to understand services-led growth.
The services sector contributed nearly 55 per cent of India’s national GVA in 2024–25 and shows emerging regional convergence.
Employment in services remains uneven, with modern high-productivity segments limited in jobs and traditional segments largely informal and low-paying.
Reports recommend enhancing digital infrastructure, logistics, finance, innovation, skilling, and formalisation, with state-specific strategies and regional service hubs.
