Operation Polo - 75th anniversary

India celebrated the 75^th anniversary of Operation Polo on September 13, 2023.
On this day in 1948, the Indian Army launched military action to integrate the princely state of Hyderabad.
The military offensive in Hyderabad state was termed as ‘Police Action’ at the time by the then home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The Hyderabad Nizam’s forces surrendered to the Indian Army by September 18.
