- The resolution was passed in 1940 by the All-India Muslim League in Lahore.
- It called for independent states for Muslims in the north-western and eastern regions of India.
- In 1956, Pakistan adopted its first Constitution and became an Islamic Republic on the same day.
- The Minar-e-Pakistan was later built at the site where the resolution was adopted.
