Pleistocene Wolf Discovery - Russia

September 16 , 2025 14 hrs 0 min 8 0
  • Scientists discovered a well-preserved 44,000-year-old wolf in Siberian permafrost, including skin, fur, and organs.
  • The specimen, found in 2021, dates back to the late Pleistocene epoch.
  • Permafrost preservation prevented decomposition by sealing the wolf’s body in ice and minimising exposure to oxygen and moisture.
