  • Ponduru Khadi originates from Ponduru village in the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh.
  • It is a traditional hand-woven cotton fabric that has been granted the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
  • Ponduru Khadi is locally known as “Patnulu”.
  • The fabric is woven entirely by hand using locally grown Hill cotton, Punasa cotton, and red cotton.
  • A distinctive feature is the use of the jawbone of the Valuga fish for cleaning cotton.
