Tamil Nadu Raptor Survey 2026

Tamil Nadu has recorded 51 species of raptors in its first statewide scientific assessment conducted by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department.
The survey was conducted in January–February 2026 under the guidance of the Tamil Nadu Raptor Research Foundation.
The survey recorded 40 diurnal raptor species and 11 nocturnal raptor species.
It included rare and threatened species like the White-rumped Vulture, Red-headed Vulture, and Indian Vulture.
The assessment provides baseline data for conservation, monitoring, and habitat protection of raptors in the state.
