  • Punjab Government has issued orders to all online food order and supply companies to display the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) “hygiene rating” of all the hotels registered or affiliated with them.
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has constituted a 6-member committee under the chairmanship of Harsh Vardhan, Senior Advisor with Bain & Co. to review the existing state of “Mortgage Securitisation in India” and suggest measures to deepen it.
    • It is officially named as “Committee on the Development of Housing Finance Securitisation Market”.
  • According to a study based on National Sample Survey Organisation, India has 20.6 health workers per 10,000 people. World Health Organisation standards are 22.8 per 10,000 people.

  • The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) to ban the use of Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purifiers where total dissolved solids (TDS) in water are below 500 mg per litre.
    • If TDS is less than 500 milligrams per litre, RO system will not be useful but result in removing important minerals as well as cause undue wastage of water. 80% of water is wasted in Reverse Osmosis purifiers.
  • Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Birender Singh Dhanoa has become the new Chairman of the Chief of Staff Committee (COSC).
    • The role of COSC is to advise the Defence Minister and through him to the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs on all military matters which require ministerial consideration.

  • The proposed Jewar airport in Uttar Pradesh is expected to begin operations from 2023 with a capacity to handle 1.2 crore passengers annually.
    • It will serve as the second airport for the National Capital Region.
