- UNESCO created Chinese Language Day in 2010 to celebrate Chinese as one of the UN’s six official languages.
- The day also honors Cangjie, the legendary inventor of Chinese characters 5,000 years ago.
- The 2025 theme is “Chinese Language: A Gift Across Time and Space.”
