- UNICEF released the SoWC (State of the World’s Children) 2025 report called “Ending Child Poverty – Our Shared Imperative.”
- The report used data from more than 130 low- and middle-income countries.
- Over 19% of children in the world live in extreme monetary poverty.
- More than 1 in 5 children in these countries face severe deprivation in at least two basic needs.
- In India, about 206 million children face one deprivation, and about 62 million face two or more.
- Sanitation was found to be the most common severe deprivation among children.
