- U.S. says it is leaving UN cultural agency UNESCO again.
- It is only two years after rejoining with that.
- It marks a repeat of the 2017 decision during Trump’s first term.
- That had been reversed by President Joe Biden in 2023.
- The decision reflects the “America First” foreign policy.
- This will be the third time that the United States has left UNESCO.
- And it will be the second time during a Trump administration.
- The decision will take effect at the end of December 2026.
- The United States previously pulled out of UNESCO under the Reagan administration in 1984.
