- This follows the death of AIADMK MLA T.K. Amul Kandasamy.
- The notification was issued by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Secretariat last week.
- This is the fifth vacant seat in the 16th Tamil Nadu Assembly, elected in May 2021.
- Due to the short remaining term, it is unclear if a by-election will be held.
