- It is observed every year on 8 May by paying tribute to the volunteers for their unprecedented contribution to the people in need.
- The theme of World Red Cross Day 2018 is “Memorable smiles from around the world”.
- This day celebrates the birthday of Dunant Henry who had generated a Red Cross Committee of the International (ICRI) in 1863 in Switzerland, Geneva.
